Pop culture is a modern day way of expressing thoughts, feelings, and beliefs in society. All this can be expressed through television, music, art, cinema, and on platforms through the internet. Social media has become the most popular way of expressing these ideas. On platforms such as Tik Tok, Instagram, and Snapchat people are easily influenced by bloggers or influencers to do something that might not be good but most of the time it brings people together for a common person. For example, a few years ago there was a trend going around the internet of people taking a spoonful of cinnamon, which caused people to choke. As people saw this trend they wanted to try it out because they were easily influenced by the people they saw online. This is what Philippine was trying to express in his Ted Talk video. An example of what he said was that a movie can change the way people think in the long run and it can change society forever. 

Most of the time a society can be divided though. Through social media a common ground can be achieved. Sometimes it can be funny, sometimes controversial, but eventually it brings people together. An example of bringing people together can be a T.V. show that addresses modern day issues or something unrealistic like zombies or space travel. The viewers might not agree with the plots but both pro and con both enjoy watching the show. The view is then discussed how much they liked or disliked it and then have a common discussion to agree to disagree with how they feel about it. 

So do I think social media is good in the world? My personal opinion is that I think pop culture can be beneficial if used in a responsible way. Most things can be learned and gathered to educate us like never before. The world is actually at our fingertips. Like all things it can be used to prey on the unsuspecting Making the young and naive lord into doing things that might not be the best possible thing for them to do. Kids that have phones and social media usually follow along with what they see and they shouldn’t because most of the time it is not what they should be doing in school or out of school.
