Is fast food the new tobacco?
These two things are different in many ways and is hard to compare them to each other. Tobacco is something that isn’t good for you and can give you cancer along with many deadly things. Tobacco is something you smoke and is not good for your lungs. While getting fast food you don’t always know what you are putting into your body but you know it’s nothing worse than tobacco. People get addicted to tobacco. Fast food isn’t as addicting because you can control yourself when you are eating and pick the food you are putting into your body. People choose to go to fast food places and they also choose if they want to do tobacco. Zinczenko states, “I tend to sympathize with this portly fast-foods patrons, though” and I disagree with that because when I was younger both of my parents worked full time jobs and still found a way to put food on the table for my siblings and I. They are still working full time jobs and manage to get food on the table for us when we get home from school or practice. There are times where we order out, but not as much fast food, because we try to stay away from that. Fast food can be addicted to some people because that is what they are used to eating regularly but for some people they don’t eat it as much and do not get addicted. Tobacco is a drug that people get addicted to even if they don’t want to. If you try tobacco once you are most likely to get addicted but if you eat at a fast food restaurant you are most likely not going to get addicted. Personally, I do not think that fast food is the new tobacco.
Should the obesity issue be government regulated or remain personal responsibility?
I feel like the obesity issue should remain a personal responsibility. No one is telling you what you should eat and how much of it you consume. It is a personal responsibility because you are the one eating and consuming the food. The person eating the food decides if they are eating the right food, which is healthy food. If they go against that and eat fast food or unhealthy food all the time then it is their fault if they gain weight and are considered “obese”. Fast food chains have nutrient labels on their food opinions and if the person chooses to ignore that, then they shouldn’t be surprised when they start to gain weight. I know someone that ate at fast food restaurants frequently and gained more weight than usual. They didn’t blame anyone but themselves because they knew that they weren’t eating the proper food. It is not the governments fault because the government isn’t responsible for what you are putting in your body. It could be the governments fault if you use tobacco because they legalized it but it is not the governments fault if you are obsess from eating fast food.
